Thanks for sharing a bit of your personal political journey--similar to my own. I'm left asking 'who are we now"? and don't have a good (political) answer. As for who Joe Biden is--like you, I'm bewildered by the degree of shock and amazement expressed by the elite journo class.

"Our media siloes are formidable, but they’re not omnipotent. Sometimes reality is so undeniable it actually breaks through."

The media landscape you describe is precisely why diversity of opinion at news (and media) organizations is so critical. How was it that many managed to figure out what a snow job the left-leaning media was shoveling? We let let the competing narratives come into contact with each other on the debate stage. That contact could have -- should have -- happened at the NYT, MSNBC, CNN, etc. 2 years ago.

AW, bravo, simple and clear, as you state, that contact between narratives should have happened in the media but they have abandoned their position as custodians of information. Media as we know it is dead; They are now partisans in the narrative battle space.

Same about the emperor's clothes. My own experience trying to find Biden faltering stopped at C-SPAN on D-Day in which he looked ok, but in retrospect that was a spectacular performance. Maybe the September debates will be at 10am. Since that night has been like Homer disappearing into the bushes. We saw reality and they're trying with all of their might to make us forget.

As for the media I come to most things with a base case of corruption. I have to assume their manipulating toward some goal so after consuming I consider whether people will come along for that ride or bolt. The good news is establishment numbers are falling, down 25% over 5 years according to adweek, not fast enough, maybe misreported so worse than that, but anyway a good sign.
