Thanks for republishing this. I read it on Lee's Substack, and commented at that time, contrasting her behavior toward abuse victims with that of Josh Shapiro, the Governor of Pennsylvania. At the time Lee published, Governor Shapiro was on "the list" as a possible replacement for President Biden.

What a difference a month or so makes. Late this afternoon, Governor Shapiro endorsed VP Harris to be the Democrat Presidential nominee. Full disclosure - I'm a Pennsylvania resident and did not vote for Shapiro. I did, and do, respect him for his work exposing the abuse cover-up in Pennsylvania, and his care for the victims.

Shapiro's quick endorsement may just be a "I'll do what I can for party unity and to remove my name from consideration". I can understand that, for now.

But if VP Harris emerges as the Democrat nominee, an enterprising reporter could ask Shapiro about his endorsement, given Harris' history of willful neglect (my polite description of her inaction). And what can his voters conclude about Shapiro's commitment to the survivors of clergy sexual abuse?

One of my daughters told me of this several years ago. As she had heard it, Kamala was starting to look into the abuses, but then was told to "cool it", and she did. She is a politician, not an inspiration!

When reading over the bio of John Shapiro, Gov. of Pennsylvania and a possible VP pick, I noticed two things that may be problems for Kamala's policies and past: Shapiro supports Israel, and as PA's Atty. General, Shapiro went after the sexual abuse within the Catholic Church. This resulted in an 18-month investigative report with international calls for reform.
