I like the short interview format and I too read and enjoy Ruy Texeira on The Liberal Patriot.

I have no ax to grind when it comes to parties. I am one of those decidedly unaffiliated people who would not mind burning down the whole two-party system and who find both the two parties despicable by turns. As a poster on another Substack I subscribe to puts it so succinctly, "In Hitler (D) vs Stalin (R), one of those motherf---rs is gonna win." So I tend to find all this Democrat handwringing a little amusing. Many of us have seen this train wreck coming for a while. The bulk of Democrat politicians have been trying to appease too many niche interests rather than trying to find the best meaningful solutions for the masses, and they genuinely seem to think the masses are stupid and should be grateful for their guidance and whatever crumbs they throw their way. People will only take that for so long.

Thanks for this, and I hope that a longer version exists that you can share soon.

I've been voraciously reading Teixeira's work at The Liberal Patriot myself, and he seems to be one of the only people with a grasp on the Democratic Party's implosion. It's just (unpopular) truths and (even more unpopular) common sense, written clearly and concisely. The few responses I've seen to this work from the Brooklyn laptop class/Acela corridor types either tar him for moving to the American Enterprise Institute, or just lob lazy (and terrifying!) accusations of dreaded wrongthink at him, in an era when partisan cheerleading has replaced most journalism, and most politics.

He clearly lays out ways that the Democratic Party could repair itself. They won't, and their journey to irrelevancy seems pre-written into history at this point, like their brethren in late night comedy. It's time for a new party (and new comedy).

I’m wondering if ‘working class’ ultimately means ‘unindoctrinated.’

Would like to see a much more fully developed analysis as to why this is happening: for instance are these new Republican Hispanic voters first or second generation; how does it break out by country of origin; college educated vs non college. I think this would be extremely informative and highly relevant.

"Working class" means not self-hating.

I sense that the great existentialist/political trait among progressive whites is white self-hatred. And I would go as far as saying that Trump and his followers are hated by progressive for not evincing shame of being white.

And then there is the whole issue that identity is a fig leaf for class.......

Probably best to stratify the results further into age demographics and regions. Also, democrats are racist, we should have all known that for the last few decades at least.
